The shops at the Verve Suites in Mont Kiara are constantly changing, and a recent visit revealed that Enoshima has taken over the corner lot, next to La Juiceria and Good Times (both relatively new tenants).
It’s always a promising sign to see Japanese patrons and staff, and the sea, sand and surf decor that fills the restaurant made me want to visit the island that gives the restaurant its name.
The pork shabu shabu was filled with enoki and shimeji mushrooms, carrots, leeks and cabbage. At RM35, we weren’t sure if they meant per person and when it it turned out to be RM35 for the whole shebang, we were sold! You can choose to add on sides – more sliced pork, veggie or noodles (we opted for udon), but depending on your appetite, it’s a good size for two people.
The yam jelly (konnyaku) was delicious – the sauce not too spicy with the right amount of tartness. Would order again.
The oysters (airflown from the US) with spicy ponzu were surprisingly big – I was expecting smaller oysters but these were like the ones served in Tsukiji or even Sydney fish market.
The menu is a mixture of Japanese and fusion food, with many interesting dishes. The dessert menu is actually at the back of the drinks menu and consists of cake and ice cream.
Overall a great experience – tasty food, friendly staff, and a happy ambiance.
