Review of Fortunate Coffee cafe, Solaris

The entrance to Fortunate Coffee – the “LN” stands for “Love Nature”

Fortunate Coffee is fairly new in the Solaris F&B scene – I think I noticed it a month ago – but because Villa Ju’s bing su’s are so addictive, my friends and I never stopped next door at Fortunate.

Their bread display – sadly no longan & goji or tomato & cheese available when I went.

The interior is bright but welcoming – the abundance of wood helps reduce the glare some brightly lit cafes have. Fortunate is also a bakery (like Pastel) and all their bread is made from sourdough. I wanted to try the longan and goji bread but it was sold out 😦 Same for their tomato and cheese.

Looks like an ice lemon tea, but no, it’s ice lemon coffee

My iced lemon coffee (lemon juice and coffee; RM21) was surprisingly refreshing and took away some of the bitterness that straight black coffee has. While my friend cried out at the indignity of having anything other than pure coffee, it was what I needed after a hot day out.

The iced Ethiopian black coffee (RM21) was nice – a little more fruity than bitter. Loved how both came in wine glasses!

The menu also had a variety of vegetable based dishes – saw lots of edamame, snow peas and green beans – there’s a veggie burger I may try in the future. The portion size looked OK judging by other people’s dishes.

The waiter was really friendly and helpful which is a plus. Would come back to try their food (and hopefully bread).

Open from 10 am – 10 pm (except Mondays)

Address: 16, Jalan Solaris 4, Mont Kiara (next to Villa Ju, same row as Pretz N Beans)
